A new AP-Ipsos poll shows that more than half the Americans asked are open to allowing illegal immigrants to seek legal status.

ABOUT THE POLL:
Associated Press and Ipsos international polling firm
1,003 adults polled Tuesday through Thursday
Sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points

TEMPORARY WORKER PROGRAM:
56 percent favor letting illegal immigrants with jobs apply for legal temporary worker status
62 percent of Democrats support idea
52 percent of Republicans support idea
65 percent of those age 18-29 support idea
54 percent of those 35 and older support it
65 percent of those with college degrees support it
54 percent of those with a high school education or less oppose it.
57 percent of those in urban areas support it
59 percent of those in suburban areas support it
47 percent of those in rural areas support it


CONTRIBUTION OR DRAIN:
51 percent say illegal immigrants mostly contribute to U.S. society
47 percent say illegal immigrants are a drain
61 percent of those age 18-34 say the contribution is positive
46 percent of those 35 years old and older feel that way
64 percent of those with college degree say they make contribution
62 percent of Democrats say they make positive contribution
41 percent of Republicans say they make positive contribution
61 percent earning more than $75,000 a year feel that way
61 percent of people 18-34 feel that way
61 percent of nonwhites feel they make a positive contribution
53 percent of people in rural areas say illegal immigrants are a drain
51 percent say illegal immigrants are a drain
33 percent of Democrats say illegal immigrants are a drain
50 percent of those over 65 say they're a drain
47 percent making under $25,000 year feel that way

WOULD A FENCE REDUCE ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION:
Two-thirds say a fence wouldn't reduce the number of illegal immigrants
Majorities in all groups express a lack of confidence that a fence would make a difference

What is wrong with this poll? This doesn't reflect the views of the millions of people in American.

But if their views are correct on how the Democrats feel, i suggest the Democrats take a poll of their own.

Wouldn't you know that NBC, a station that has a blackout on everything concerning illegal aliens except for their crying, and horror stories about getting caught and deported, or granting them complete amnesty would air such a poll.

The AP didn't contact legal American's, or their findings would have been totally against what their polls say.

I wonder how much La Raza paid the pollsters for this crap? This should be wrapped in toilet paper and flushed down the toilet.

Everyone I know is very much against having any illegals here. They don't care if they have a job or not...they want them outta here.

Once I got to the above lines I knew it was nothing but bs psychological-warfare. As a rule, most polls in the US aren't meant to guage public opinion, but rather to shape it. That especially applies to AP's polls as well as their reporting(formerly known as journalism).

What the hell can they tell from a pole with 1,000 people, when they give me a pole that includes 2 hundred million then I will believe it. They probably polled all illegals

Now I believe this one because this starts the income level which says they cannot afford to pay an American. I'd like to raise the income level to about the $150,000 and up crowd and see how they feel
about illegal immigration.

I bet 100% are for it. It is the middle class/lower middle class and poorer people in the U.S. who are mostly harmed by illegal immigration.

WHICH IS WHY IF THE DEMOCRATS REALLY STAND FOR THE LESS FORTUNATE IN AMERICA ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION SHOULD BE SOMETHING THAT THEY WOULD BE DEAD SET AGAINST. Does anybody know how they conduct their polls or where their sampling is from?

By the looks of THAT poll they called folks in L.A. and asked the questions in Spanish.
