About a dozen officers from the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department and the Louisville Drug Enforcement agency office, swarmed Spring Street on Tuesday afternoon to arrest four men, who are accused of dealing large amounts of cocaine in the area.

Sheriff Darrell Mills said the men are Honduran and Mexican nationalists and are believed to be involved in prominent street gangs in their respective countries.

One of those arrested, Julio Caesar Funes-Maderas, 27, lives in Clarksville. The others — Jorge Delgado-Ayala, 30; Jose Luis Cruze-Aranda, 23; Armando Munoz, 22, are from Columbus.

The Tribune was at the scene Tuesday afternoon and witnessed uniformed and undercover officers set up behind Rite Aid and other stores in the area, just before they all took off at once, some in cars and some on foot, to make the arrests.

Mills said the coordination was possible because both agencies train and work together.

“The main thing is to keep the officers safe, the public safe and put the bad guys in jail,â€
