Federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement has identified a Hispanic man arrested Saturday in a domestic assault case.

After his arrest, Boyle County Sheriff’s Department placed the man who called himself Pedro Floras in immigration detainment because he could not be identified.

On Tuesday, ICE interviewed the man and identified him as Augusta Floras Mital, an illegal immigrant who has been deported to Mexico five times.

Sheriff Marty Elliott said ICE is keeping Floras Mital detained while they conduct a federal investigation.

“They are trying to verify the information they have,” Elliott said.

Flores Mital told officers Saturday that he is connected with a Mexican mafia.

Elliott said now that ICE has identified him, “they are trying to find out exactly what he’s affiliated with.”

Flores Mital will remain in detainment at the Boyle County Detention Center.

“He’s here under our charges but also still being detained by ICE,” Elliott said. “He’ll be here until ICE says he can be released.”

The sheriff’s department located Flores Mital after receiving a third-party call Saturday of domestic violence at 403 W. Second St. in Perryville. He is accused of assaulting Melinda Fowler.

Flores Mital, who was intoxicated, attempted to hide in a shed when officers arrived at the residence.

He was found by Sheriff Elliott and arrested on charges of fourth-degree domestic assault, fleeing or evading police, and alcohol intoxication in a public place.
