LOS ANGELES (AP) - Immigrant rights groups and about 200 people who allege they were brutalized by Los Angeles police after a peaceful May 1 immigration march are holding a news conference to describe claims they are filing.

They say they are also asking for approval to pursue the case as a class action.

Gladys Limon, a lawyer handling the case, says plaintiffs include a photographer who was struck with a police baton on the head several times and a 76-year-old beaten by police. The group, which filed its initial lawsuit in early May, is seeking unspecified damages for physical injuries.

Video from the melee shows police beating and firing rubber bullets at unarmed marchers and reporters.

Police Chief William Bratton has condemned police action that day.

First of all, why was the racist anti-American mayor, Tony Villar, out of the country on that particular day. He was visiting his pals in Salvador and Mexico...conveniently.

Secondly, the police were viciously attacked by a small group of thugs and MS 13 gangbangers. This started the evacuation of the park.

Thirdly, the racist mayor rushed back to LA and said that he was launching an 'investigation' and would havbe the results in 30 days! But the very next day, he started a campaign to get anyone who was "injured" to call the city and make a report! He IMMEDIATELY fired the commander who was in charge and put dozens of officers on leave. He didn't wait 24 hours!!! Everyone was guilty until proven innocent!

Thereafer, he bombarded the airways DAILY with PLEAS for anyone injured to call the city! Now it looks like he has enough "injuries" to start a class action suit! What a sham! I would be shocked if there were more than a dozen injuries that day...certainly nothing close to the 200 in the class action! But when you have the mayor begging you to come forward...anything goes!
