A Louisiana woman who pleaded guilty to conspiring to bring illegal immigrants into the U.S. has been sentenced to more than four years in prison.

Federal prosecutors said 55-year-old Joan Comeaux of Sulphur was the ringleader of an operation that brought hundreds of illegal immigrants from Mexico to Texas.

U.S. District Judge Patricia Minaldi in Lake Charles on Thursday sentenced Comeaux to 51 months in prison.

Her sister, 62-year-old Carolyn Metcalf of Sulphur, pleaded guilty in May to a related charge and was sentenced to 30 months in prison.
