COSIO, AGUASCALIENTES, MEXICO

Authorities have confirmed the capture by Federal Police of Jose de Jesus Mendez Vargas, known as El Chango, who was leader of the cartel known as La Familia Michoacana (LFM). The arrest occurred in the state of Aguascalientes, this thanks to intelligence work and it was reported that there was no confrontation whatsoever at the time of the operation. Mendez was one of the most wanted men in Mexico, mostly for murder and smuggling. He was also wanted by the U.S. for distributing large quantities of cocaine and methamphetamine. In recent days, the Knights Templar had been waging a war against El Chango. Narco messages were left by them with multiple bodies, taunting El Chango. A government spokesman, Alejandro Poire, says this is an overwhelming blow to the LFM and the cartel has been destroyed.-Blog del Narco
