LA rally for illegal immigrants dogged by low turnout




LOS ANGELES Few people turned out today for a rally in Los Angeles demanding amnesty for eleven million illegal immigrants.

It's the latest sign of pro-immigrant groups' struggles to regain momentum after hundreds of thousands marched through the spring.

Local bands jammed to rock music, vendors offered chicken tacos and a dozens of activists set up information booths in a field in downtown Los Angeles.

But by 5:30 p-m, more than an hour after the rally started, only 350 people had shown up. The majority of them were organizers and journalists. Organizers had expected about 5,000 participants.

Organizers downplayed the low turnout, saying more could appear later and the quantity of people wasn't important to make their point.

CC, turnout doesn't matter to the MSM.

After the 2000 presidential inauguration, there were tens of thousands of cheering supporters jamming the streets near the mall. But the TV cameras were all focused on a handful of anti-America protesters.

No, they were demanding amnesty for ALL illegal aliens (can't bring myself to write "illegal immigrants").

That might mean 34 million illegal aliens. It might even mean the entire population of Mexico, in country for the day for a happy meal and a "legal status" card.

Unless, of course, you trust ICE to stop printing Z-visas at the 12 million mark.
