LA Times Soul-Searches Immigration UPDATED X2

The LAT promises 6 months or so of Opinion and Op-ed soul-searching on the subject of immigration. They propose a wide-ranging discussion of views, an attempt to transcend clichés. They certainly present the problem in a nutshell:

America's current immigration policy is, in essence, to resolve all contradictions by ignoring them. We set rules, and then we don't enforce them.
