I won't believe they will deport these people until I see it.

Few re-registering for temporary work permits
Miami Herald Staff Report
With only two weeks remaining before the filing deadline, the majority of Hondurans and Nicaraguans eligible to re-register for temporary work permits have not done so.

Of about 82,000 Hondurans and Nicaraguans eligible to re-register for continued Temporary Protected Status or TPS, only about 35,000 had done so by last week, according to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. The figure includes 33,416 Hondurans and 1,667 Nicaraguans.

The deadline to re-register expires July 30, the same day immigration processing fees rise sharply.

The current fee for a work permit is $180 plus a $70 biometrics service fee. As of July 30, the permit goes up to $340 and the biometrics fee to $80, according to the immigration service.

The agency warned that failure to re-register for TPS will render recipients undocumented and thus deportable.

TPS is a program under which undocumented immigrants from certain countries are allowed to stay in the United States temporarily because of a crisis or natural disaster in their homelands.
