RENO, Nev. — Authorities in Elko County say they have found a marijuana grow operation in a remote part of the county.

Undersheriff Doug Gailey said this week the farm in northwest Elko County produced $12 million worth of marijuana.

Two contractors traveling through the area spotted suspicious activity and notified authorities. The county sheriff's office then spent two days searching for the site.

About 1,000 plants remaining at the site will be destroyed. A survey of the site found 98 percent of the marijuana has already been cultivated.

Authorities also discovered an elaborate irrigation system at the site.
