Latino Group Slams Emanuel on Immigration

Latino activists held a City Hall news conference Wednesday to protest the likely mayoral campaign of Rahm Emanuel, two days after he launched his Chicago listening tour by touring the streets of Pilsen, a predominantly Mexican neighborhood.

Members of the Frente Unido Pro Inmigrantes (United Front For Immigrants) said Emanuel’s record on immigration issues both when he served as congressman and as White House chief of staff will cost him Latino support in the upcoming mayoral election. They blamed him for the failure to pass federal immigration reform legislation, despite campaign promises by Emanuel’s former boss, President Barack Obama.
