Latinos Oppose Immigration Amnesty Bill
Latinos Oppose Immigration Amnesty Bill
May 06, 2007 11:40 AM EST
by Jim Kouri - Reacting to news that Senate leaders have agreed to move forward with an amnesty bill, the chairman of the You Don't Speak for Me! coalition, retired Col. Al Rodriguez noted that, "When it comes to immigration policy, the United States Senate apparently doesn't speak for anyone, except the people who have broken our laws and cheap labor business interests."
National polls -- especially those done after the May 1 illegal alien protests and boycott -- show that an overwhelming majority of Americans oppose the kind of amnesty being promoted by the Senate and the White House.
"That opposition includes millions of Americans who are of Hispanic heritage," Col. Rodriguez said.
The You Don't Speak for Me! coalition was formed in response to the recent street demonstrations by illegal aliens and their supporters all across the country, and to portrayals in the media that these protests and boycotts represent the views of mainstream American Hispanics.
The group gained national and international attention with its own May 1 news
conference that was covered live on C-SPAN.
"We are proud to join with leading members of Congress who are standing up for the interests of all Americans, and representing the interests of the overwhelming majority of hard-working, law-abiding citizens," Rodriguez said.
"When these courageous members of Congress stand up and ask their colleagues in the Senate to do the right thing and enforce our immigration laws without rewarding millions of people who broke those laws, they will not be standing alone. As Americans and as people of Hispanic heritage, we will be standing with them."
You Don't Speak for Me! is calling on the Senate to follow the lead of the House and approve an immigration enforcement-only bill that strengthens border security, enforces laws against employers who unlawfully hire illegal aliens, and curtails non-essential benefits and services to those here illegally.
"It is time for the Senate to honor its commitments to the American people, to protect our national security, and do what the overwhelming majority of Americans are demanding, instead of what the illegal aliens are demanding," Rodriguez stated.

Saludo a nos amigos Latinos
I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well. Remittances are now mostly spent on consumption not production assets. Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

05-07-2007, 09:05 PM #5I think the senate is so bought and paid for by big business that they don't give a damn what we think."It is time for the Senate to honor its commitments to the American people, to protect our national security, and do what the overwhelming majority of Americans are demanding, instead of what the illegal aliens are demanding," Rodriguez stated.<div>Suppose you were an idiot, and suppose you were a member of congress; but I repeat myself.
