    Immigration policing feared

Asheville- A plan to give Buncombe County detention officers power to start the deportation process for arrested illegal immigrants came under fire Wednesday. More than 500 people at a forum attended mostly by Hispanic residents questioned whether sheriff Van Duncan would use the plan to target people through immigration raids. For me as a sheriff, it allows me to protect my communities better. Duncan said it would only target undocumented immigrants already charged with serious crimes. Well its about time for this to happen here in WNC. I think Henderson County has this program already. Now if we can only get the other counties on the band wagon it would be great. People are getting tired of this invasion and now they are finally starting to make some noise. Its just plain stupid for our federal government to just sit by and do nothing about this situation. So it is only right for state and local governments to take up the fight before our country is wiped off the map.

What a contrast between the Sheriff's in Ashville and Hickory, NC. One is trying to simply enforce the laws and the other is sucking up to people that shouldn't even be in the country.
