HIDALGO COUNTY - Illegals trying to make their way into the country lead Valley law enforcement on a chase before bailing out and trying to make a run for it.

Border Patrol tells us there is a total of nine illegals in custody Friday night. Five of those men bailed out after the chase; four others were trapped in the trunk.

The chase began at around 12:30 Friday afternoon. Hidalgo County sheriff's deputies were in hot pursuit of this black Crown Victoria. The chase began when a deputy tried to make a routine traffic stop.

At about 1 p.m., the chase ended at an orchard on Iowa and Eight Mile line. Five of the suspects bailed and made a run for it, leading sheriff deputies and Border Patrol agents on a manhunt.

All five illegals were found; another four were also found in the trunk of the car. All nine men were treated for dehydration and turned over to Border Patrol for questioning.
