NAACP to hold vigil in Johnston County(NC)

Smithfield, N.C. — The North Carolina NAACP will hold a prayer vigil in Johnston County this weekend to challenge intolerance.

The vigil will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Smithfield courthouse.

Earlier this month, Johnston County Sheriff Steve Bizzell made controversial comments to a reporter for The News & Observer newspaper in Raleigh.

In a Sept. 7 article in which Bizzell talked about his frustration with the changing face of the county where he grew up, he called Mexicans "trashy" and said the growing Latino population in his county was "breeding like rabbits."

"Everywhere you look, it's like little Mexico around here," he said in the article.

Bizzell later apologized for the remarks, saying his comments were targeted at illegal immigrants and not all Latinos.

Twenty-six civil rights organizations sent a letter to commissioners last week calling for Bizzell’s resignation. Hispanic media group Que Pasa has also called for Bizzell to resign. go to the link and see what people are saying about going to support bizzellon sunday..

The sheriff says what he sees in his town. Numbers prove the breeding issue. He was just to blunt.
I'm intorerant of things like NAACP, sorry. But anything just for Blacks is racist to me. A white can not do anything close to the all black organizations around America. If things are to change they need to drop the special status's. Bill Cosby seems to be on top of things and understands being accountable and REAL. Sharpton is racist too. Remember the "you can catch more flies with honey" phrase? If it's equality, make it equal then.
I don't understand why more Blacks are not against illegals. I "think" they are hit the hardest by it. Am I right? Maybe not. They could help the issue greatly.

Sheriff: Respect rights of NAACP to gather `Smithfield, N.C. — Sheriff Steve Bizzell said that safety and constitutional rights should be priorities this weekend as groups gather for a prayer vigil in Smithfield.

The North Carolina NAACP announced Friday that they would hold the vigil to challenge intolerance.

The vigil is planned for 3 p.m. Sunday at the Smithfield courthouse.

Bizzell has been under fire since his comments on the growing minority population in his county were published in The News & Observer newspaper in Raleigh. He called Mexicans "trashy" and said the growing Latino population in his county was "breeding like rabbits."

Twenty-six civil rights organizations responded to those remarks with a call for Bizzell’s resignation. Hispanic media group Que Pasa has also called for Bizzell to resign.

County commissioners have been unstinting in their support of the sheriff, indicating they have no intention of seeking his removal.

Cookie Pope, chairwoman of the Johnston County Board of Commissioners, issued a statement on behalf of the board, saying that commissioners supported Bizzell's "successful efforts to protect the citizens of Johnston County against crimes."

In a statement, Bizzell asked that the right for peaceable assembly be honored Sunday. He wrote:

As citizens of our great country, one of our most cherished rights is the ability to peacefully assemble. El Pueblo and the NAACP have announced their intentions to assemble in Smithfield this Sunday afternoon. I ask that everyone respect their right to have this gathering. It is my desire for Johnston County to be a safe place to host groups from outside our county to gather with their local members within the rule of law. Any interference with this gathering would be contrary to our constitution and not acceptable.

Why? Sheriff Bizzell's comments were about illegal aliens who are trashy. Its true. Illegal aliens from Mexico are trashy people. Maybe members from the NAACP should be given a tour of heavily populated areas where illegal aliens live so they can see it for themselves.

I am sick and tired of these whiners. The sheriff is correct. All you have do to is look at the astronomical amounts of welfare paid out for anchor babies in California. The month of August:

August Welfare Costs For LA County Released

New statistics from the Department of Public Social Services reveal that illegal aliens and their families in Los Angeles County collected nearly $37 million in welfare and food stamp allocations, announced Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich.

In August, illegals collected over $19 million in welfare assistance and over $17 million in monthly food stamp allocations, for a projected annual cost of $432 million. Nearly twenty five percent of all welfare and food stamps benefits is going directly to the children of illegal aliens.
Give or take one or two million multiply the cost by 50 states. It's not rocket science. As for Al and Jesse, ITA, they have gotten filthy rich pimping the uneducated, poverty stricken black people.

When will our government stop giving our hard earned tax dollars to the these pimps. Divided we fall . . . ..

In county divided, vigil seeks unity Smithfield, N.C. — Several civil-rights groups seeking the dismissal of the Johnston County sheriff for comments deemed derogatory toward Latinos held a prayer vigil Sunday.

The vigil, at the Smithfield courthouse, drew about 200 people. It was organized by advocacy group El Pueblo. Rev. William Barber, president of the state NAACP chapter, also spoke at the vigil.

Sheriff Steve Bizzell has been under fire since his comments on the growing minority population in his county were published in The News & Observer newspaper in Raleigh. He called Mexicans "trashy" and said the growing Latino population in his county was "breeding like rabbits."
