    Welcome c69101! North Platte's a cool city. Last time I was there shopping in December I only heard english being spoken there! It was so refreshing to go into stores and not have to listen to the LOUD spanish speakers.

    LB403 -- Introduced by Sen. Russ Karpisek of Wilber on behalf of Gov. Dave Heineman, it would require state and local agencies verify legal status of anyone trying to collect public benefits. The bill names a host of benefits, including food assistance, unemployment, public housing, welfare and retirement. Unlike a similar bill introduced last year, it does not seek to repeal a law that allows children of illegal immigrants to receive in-state tuition under certain conditions.

    c69101 - Welcome to ALIPAC. I'm in Nebraska also. North Platte is a sentimental place for me, used to go there every summer as a child, because my grandparents lived there.

    I've also been trying to keep abreast of whats been going on in Fremont. They apparently got enough signatures on a petition for an anti-invasion measure that it could go to the people for a vote. Trying to let the people decide, instead of the lobbied and paid-off politicians. I will try to find the post for that.
