Border Patrol Weekly Blotter: September 10 - September 16

(09/16/2009)Border Patrol agents seized over 12,845 pounds of marijuana, 197.8 pounds of cocaine, and 37.4 pounds of Ecstasy. Agents arrested 10 criminal aliens and 10 gang members. There were 5 rocking incidents.

Del Rio Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Eagle Pass, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Paisa gang. Records checks revealed he had been previously removed from the United States.


Grand Forks Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador in Grand Marais, Minnesota, after a citizen reported witnessing three males exit the subject’s vehicle near the United States/Canadian international border. During processing, the subject admitted to dropping off three illegal aliens near the international border. Canadian authorities later reported that four illegal aliens were arrested in the same area. Records checks revealed the subject had been previously ordered removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Amado, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for voluntary manslaughter in the State of California and had been previously removed from the United States.


Yuma Sector – Border Patrol agents reported that local law enforcement officials requested assistance in locating a possible drowning victim in the Colorado River near Yuma, Arizona. Agents responded to the scene, searched the area and rescued the subject and a dog from the river. The subject was then transported to an awaiting emergency medical services unit, where he was evaluated and appeared to be in good medical condition.

Del Rio Sector – Border Patrol agents assisted local fire and law enforcement officials with evacuation efforts near Eagle Pass, Texas. Heavy rains caused flash flooding and agents aided in the evacuation of an apartment complex and other residences.


El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Indio, California. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the 18th Street gang. Records checks revealed he was also a registered sex offender and had a prior conviction for sex with a minor under 16.


Houlton Sector – Border Patrol agents and U.S. Customs and Border Protection Office of Air and Marine personnel assisted local law enforcement authorities in the eradication of 292 marijuana plants near Stockholm, Maine.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Douglas, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had an outstanding felony warrant issued in the State of Illinois for aggravated DUI/reckless homicide.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior felony conviction for sex with a minor in the State of California and had also been previously removed from the United States.


El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. Records checks revealed the subject had an extraditable arrest warrant for possession and purchase of narcotics and a controlled substance for sale in the State of California. The subject had also been previously removed from the United States.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Deming, New Mexico. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for aggravated assault and possession of dangerous drugs, and was sentenced to six years of imprisonment. The subject had also been previously removed from the United States.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Deming, New Mexico. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Sureño 13 gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history, including a conviction for inflicting bodily injury to spouse and violation of order to prevent domestic violence.


Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested a United States Citizen (USC) after he assaulted agents near Laredo, Texas. The subject used his vehicle in two sequential attempts to strike agents while they were on foot. The agents avoided being struck by using evasive maneuvers and the subject was subsequently arrested.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents seized a 2001 GMC Yukon, a 1996 Ford F-150, and arrested 42 illegal aliens near Ocotillo, California. Agents noticed that two vehicle barriers along a road had been moved and observed two vehicles nearby. Agents performed vehicle stops on both vehicles and encountered the 42 illegal aliens. Records checks revealed the Ford F-150 had been reported as stolen.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 11,990 pounds of marijuana, a commercial courier truck and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the truck during primary inspection. A search revealed the marijuana concealed inside palletized boxes and wrapped in clear plastic.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents received information from an illegal alien in custody that she had become separated from her juvenile daughter in the brush near Havana, Texas. Agents initiated a search and subsequently located the juvenile. The juvenile was reunited with her mother.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested seven illegal aliens from Mexico near Nogales, Arizona. The individuals claimed that five unidentified subjects in the United States robbed them at gunpoint. Two of the victims claimed they were physically assaulted during the robbery.

Blaine Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 37.4 pounds of Ecstasy, a 2003 Lincoln, and arrested a USC and two nationals of Somalia near Blaine, Washington. Agents performed a vehicle stop and a subsequent search revealed 12 Ziploc bags containing the ecstasy.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near El Paso, Texas. The subject claimed to be the victim of an attempted robbery in Mexico, and was suffering from gunshot wounds to the buttocks and wrist. The subject was airlifted to a local hospital and was admitted for treatment.


Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Hebbronville, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Mara Salvatrucha-13 gang. The subject had also been previously removed from the United States.


Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents assisted local law enforcement officials in locating a 2-year-old child reported missing in Laredo, Texas. An agent located the child at an intersection near the family residence. The child was reunited with her mother and transported to a local medical facility for examination.


Marfa Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Midland, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the 28th Street gang and had previously been removed from the United States.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents discovered 585 pounds of marijuana and 197.8 pounds of cocaine in a tractor-trailer while assisting local law enforcement officials near El Paso, Texas. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer and further inspection revealed the hidden narcotics.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Brownsville, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Mara Salvatrucha-13 gang and had previously been removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested a USC for alien smuggling near Ajo, Arizona. The subject was transporting two nationals of Mexico when arrested. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Mara Salvatrucha-13 gang. Records checks revealed he had an extensive criminal history, including a felony conviction for theft of a means of transportation.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Nogales, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for child molestation in the State of New York and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. He had also been previously removed from the United States.
