WASHINGTON, April 28 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Jose Moreno, vice president at-large of the Laborers' International Union of North America, will address hundreds of thousands of May Day ralliers Monday in Mexico City.
Moreno will speak in support of the millions of immigrants from Mexico and other Latin American nations who help build the United States, contributing to their communities, the U.S. economy and U.S. culture.
In addition, he will call for justice for workers in Mexico, appealing for an end to the violent repression of workers and condemning the April 20th deaths of strikers at the Sicartsa steel plant in Michoacan. Terence M. O'Sullivan, Laborers' Union General President, wrote Mexican President Vicente Fox Quezada on Thursday, appealing for him to help end repression at the plant.
"Workers -- whether in Mexico or the U.S., whether immigrant or not -- deserve to be rewarded for their hard work," Moreno said. "In the U.S., immigrant workers have come out of the shadows to lead a new movement in the fight for fair pay, decent benefits and better lives for all working people. As both a Mexican immigrant and U.S. citizen, being part of May Day in Mexico City will be a tremendous honor and an opportunity to share how the Laborers' Union is fighting for justice."
The Laborers' Union is leading the fight in the U.S. for comprehensive immigration reform that protects all workers with strong labor laws, rewards the contributions of hard-working undocumented workers with a path to earned legalization and citizenship, ensures that future immigrants are not handcuffed to an employer due to their legal status, and helps reunite families separated by borders.
The Laborers' Union is among the largest construction unions in North America, with 700,000 members. In addition, the union is growing and reaching out to millions of construction workers and their families to help them unite for better lives. Among the fastest growing segment of the union are immigrant workers, who account for about a fourth of membership.
The Laborers' Union was formed more than a century ago by immigrants struggling for citizenship and a better life. Those immigrants helped build America -- just as Laborers today -- both immigrant and non-immigrant -- help build the U.S.

good information. Anyone want to follow up on this and get the information from this man? We need to know exactly which new developments and construction projects this Union is involved in. We need to put them on notice.

Mr Moreno , in my opinion, is probably one of the employers that exploit illegal laborers.
When and if these folks get the worker nod - they will have to be paid fair wages. Slave labor employers will just get new illegals and we will pay the bill for the perviously iilegal and the new illegal ones. Cash payment under the table has become a way of doing business.Support our FIGHT AGAINST illegal immigration & Amnesty by joining our E-mail Alerts at https://eepurl.com/cktGTn

These illegals are hilarious. Help build? How about how they are bankrupting our Country? Isn't that more accurate?
