Minutemen to rally at Issa's office
VISTA – Members of the San Diego Minutemen, which is affiliated with the national Minuteman Project, plan a rally here from noon to 6 p.m. today, opposing any amnesty for illegal immigrants.

They plan to gather outside Rep. Darrell Issa's office, 1800 Thibodo Road, Suite 310 in Vista.

Issa serves the 49th Congressional District that includes Oceanside, Vista, Temecula, Fallbrook and southwestern Riverside County. The Republican is seeking his fourth term. He has argued for a tougher stance on illegal immigration.

Issa is away on a congressional trip in Brazil, but an organizer said the group still will rally outside his office to send a message that Congress should not approve any guest-worker legislation next week that includes U.S. residency for undocumented immigrants. The group supports H.R. 4437, a bill which calls for enforcement-based immigration reform without a guest-worker plan. Issa has championed the bill.

The group has nearly 100 members in the San Diego area, said leader Jeff Schwilk of Oceanside, 42, a retired Marine. It was formed in October, Schwilk said, and has organized rallies against day labor sites in Vista and Encinitas.
