Letter: Against Amensty for Illegal Immigrants

Letter: Against amnesty for illegal immigrants

    Published: Jun 28, 2006

Illegal immigration has been a problem for many years. President Bush has turned a blind eye to the phenomenon, and actually in some ways encouraged illegal immigration from the beginning of his term in office.

Now the president and the Senate are urgently trying to ram a horrible “amnesty” bill through Congress. By pressing for urgent passage, and the clever use of semantics, they are trying to deceive the citizens of the United States. The president keeps calling the measure a “guest-worker program.” However, he insists on granting permanent citizenship to these lawbreakers. A true “guest-worker program” would allow foreign workers to enter for legal, metered lengths of time and then return home.

Granting amnesty to the 12 million to 20 million illegal aliens already in the country is not wise. Those numbers do not even take into account the family members whom these new residents will legally be able to bring into the country. Factoring in those persons brings the level closer to 100 million persons by congressional estimates. That’s close to increasing the population of the United States by one-third in the next few years.

So if you think gasoline is not expensive enough, and our cities and highways are not crowded and polluted enough, and if you think Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, our schools and hospitals are not burden enough, then do nothing.

Sportsmen and environmentalists, if you want more destruction of forests, farmland and wildlife habitat or competition for fishing and hunting areas, then do nothing; sit back and get ready for the swarm. If you do not fancy these things, and do not like being fooled, then please contact you representative to the United States House (for Baton Rouge residents, that is Richard Baker) and House Speaker Dennis Hastert of Illinois, and urge them to work to strip the “path for citizenship” portion from the Senate bill.

Additionally, if this bill passes and is signed into law, it might set a new legal precedent in the United States, since the meaning of “guest” will have changed. From now on, if someone breaks into your home and insists on staying, mind your manners! It is no longer to be called “burglary” or “home invasion.” When you call the police, tell them you have a “guest resident” that you need to register; you will have no other options.

Good letter from this person, Steelerbabe. Thanks for posting it. I especially appreciated him writing this part so truthfully:
