Letter: Defining 'illegal alien'
Regarding the letter "Information debunked," published Dec. 24, everyone knows that you can take statistics and slant them to reflect what you want. The conservative will look at them one way and err on the side of caution. The liberal will see something different and slant the results so as not to upset themselves and others.

Rep. King's interruption of the GOA's report of April 2005 may have not been 100 percent accurate, but if you were living in the southern-border states, you'd likely see it that way. Crimes in those states are increasing at staggering rates. Jail populations are greatly overcrowded. The populations, both stationary and transient, are increasing those figures. The liberal will see it and call it illegal immigration, but it is really illegal invasion. Maybe we all should look up "illegal" in Webster's dictionary, along with "alien."

Under Title 8 Section 1325 of the U.S. Code, "Improper Entry by Alien," any citizen of any country other than the United States who: enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers, or eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers, or attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact has committed a federal crime.

It's time to quit making excuses for illegal aliens and start enforcing the laws of the land.
