    Don't pontificate: Participate!

Re: April 14 editorial ("Border fixes: the right way and the wrong"): It's easy to pontificate. It's another thing to realize something must be done.

The ultimate result of the Minutemen may be appropriate legislation. Such activities also may compel our our do-nothing governor to got off her posterior and enforce the laws we passed to deal with the issue. It also would be nice to see U.S. Sen. Jon Kyl do something beyond posturing.

We've had too much wordsmithing and not enough action. Many Arizonans would support Gen. George Patton's remark, "An imperfect plan, vigorously executed, is better than no plan at all."

We're being invaded, and it must be stopped - now - by participants like the Minutemen, not blathered about by those with "let it be" agendas.

    - JON W. LUNDBERG

    Challenging newspaper's account

Again the Tucson Citizen's misguided agenda is apparent. You mention business losses in Douglas because of the Minutemen. What a farce. What about the losses to Americans who go to these areas to hunt, fish and camp? They are unsafe because of illegal immigrants. I have unfortunately drawn hunting permits in southern Arizona forest land overrun by illegal immigrants, who are trashing and destroying these areas.

Of course this fact will get no mention in the Citizen because it is contrary to your agenda of taking from the rich to give to lawbreakers. It is pitiful when you write editorials from behind a desk and have never gone out to these areas.

And the bit about the Minutemen setting off sensors is a lie, and you know it, and so does the Border Patrol. If the sensors were so sensitive, the arrest rate of illegal immigrants would be much higher. If only a few hundred Minutemen are setting them off, why aren't the millions of illegal immigrants? Try printing some truth; it might set your readership free.

Glad you enjoyed them. :P I signed up for the daily Tuscon Citizen online to keep track of news from that area. Some days there is something .. others not.
