Rana Foroohar's column in the July 22, 2013 Time magazine is full of dubious facts and has a catastrophic premise. Here is the article, and following it is an edited letter that I wrote to Time that I doubt they'll publish:

"In Rana Foroohar's recent column "Open the Door and Let 'Em In" (July 22, 2013 ed.), she relegates the United States of America to the level of giant retail store, where the objective is only profitability and the highest economic growth possible. Meanwhile the U.S. is a sovereign nation whose laws and citizenship are made a mockery of by illegal immigrants. Ms. Foroohar doesn't consider the balance in quality of life or rule of law over pure economics. Nowhere in her article does she address the extensive list of negative effects of overpopulation, the 22+ million Americans currently unemployed, or the fact that for every successful immigrant she mentions, there are thousands more who are a documented drag on society in a multitude of respects, including her all-important economics. Instead of interviewing the president of La Raza, she should finally balance her "reporting" by interviewing an authority on immigration. Assuming she's a naturalized citizen herself, one would think she'd have some allegiance to our country's People and laws instead of a desire to open up the borders even further to recruit foreign employees as if we were U.S.A.-Mart, while ignoring every other aspect of over-growing our population."
