Officers detained a Mexican man Wednesday and want to deport him for the fifth time.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers picked up Fidencio Lara-Mares, a Mexican citizen who lives in Edinburg, at the Hidalgo County jail.
"Record checks revealed the defendant was formally removed from the United States to Mexico for the fourth (4th) time on August 30, 2016 via the Laredo, Texas Port of Entry," according to the criminal complaint against him.
On Jan. 7, 2015, Lara was convicted of being a non-citizen in possession of a firearm and sentenced to 30 months in federal prison.
He's now charged with illegal re-entry.
Federal Magistrate Judge Peter E. Ormsby ordered Lara held without bond.
Court records don't list an attorney for Lara, who remains in federal custody.

If he was sentenced to 30 months in prison on Jan, 2015......why was he deported on Aug 10,2016??????
That is NOT 30 Months?!?!The difference between an immigrant and an illegal alien is the equivalent of the difference between a burglar and a houseguest. Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

Obviously a person like this just doesn't learn. Repeated deportations don't work. Unfortunately the only answer is to punish them with a prison sentence. Deportation is not a punishment. Reentry is a felony crime and should be treated as such. We need to respect our laws and follow them.
Penalties for Illegal Reentry
Under relevant federal statutes, an alien who commits illegal reentry as described above will be punished with:
- A fine; or
- Imprisonment for not more than two years; or
- Both fine and imprisonment.

I believe we need progressive sentencing for illegals that are guilty of reentry. 2 years 1st offense, 4 years second offense, 6 years third offense, etc. I know we don't want our tax dollars going to feed and care for them, but what choice do we have? This is a problem that we need to get more pro-active with."The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing" ** Edmund Burke**
