The day when the day labors did not return to the fields

Will the day come when the hundreds of thousands of day labors not show up for work?

Just imagine that when that day does come, the impact on immigration! The liberals in this country and in Mexico will demand immediate open border policies to stabilize the farming situation. Panic will be spread by the news media of massive food shortages brought on by immigrants who refuse to work in the fields any longer for the low wages, long hours and back breaking work! This will make the US a hostage within its own country!
Unless the farming industry wakes up now and sees the writing on the walls! The harvesting machinery equipment being used today could easily be fitted to plant, till & harvest the majority of our produce with minimal manual labor. Look at the equipment that is now being used on farms that actually have to mechanize the crops; it is amazing to see what they can do!

So what is needed? Do the farmers need subsidies to allow them to acquire these harvesting systems? Can we give the farmers tax incentives? Should we take away federal & state subsidies for not growing if they do not mechanize?

These are all very interesting issues, but as plane as day, the time will come when the migrant field worker realizes that it is to costly for him to do this work for the salary he gets, and doesn’t show up for work!
