2/3rds of U.S. Hispanics are Mexican

2/3rds of U.S. Hispanics are Mexican

    Published: April 22, 2010 at 5:06 PM

WASHINGTON, April 22 (UPI) -- Mexicans are the largest Hispanic group in the United States, with nearly two-thirds identifying themselves that way, a study released Thursday said.

The Pew Hispanic Center reported the total Hispanic population is 46.8 million, which includes 30.7 million Mexicans, 4.15 million Puerto Ricans and 1.63 million Cubans, 1.56 million Salvadorans and 1.33 million Dominicans.

There are marked demographic differences among the groups. For example, the median age of Cubans is 41 and of Mexicans 25.

While about 30 percent of Peruvians and Colombians and 25 percent of Cubans have a college degree, only 10 percent of Hondurans do. Mexicans, Guatemalans and Salvadorans are even less likely to have graduated from college.

Puerto Ricans, hailing from a U.S. territory, are overwhelmingly U.S. citizens and more than 80 percent are proficient in English. More than 70 percent of Cubans and Mexicans are citizens, and more than half speak English well.

Central Americans tend to have the lowest rates of both citizenship and English proficiency.

Peruvians, Colombians and Ecuadorians have the highest median income, while Central Americans, Mexicans and Dominicans have the lowest.

That's approximately 10 million Mexicans who are not citizens living in the U.S.

Over 11 million can barely speak English, a language they are suppposed to learn and use in public.

    This is unacceptable!
We can all bet there are more than that.

I am reminded of an old story===

I am reminded of an old story=== wherein a Roman senator suggested to a fellow senator that perhaps they should have slaves wear armbands to thus identify them as slaves. It would, he thought, allow citizens to better recognize the citizens and make life easier for Romans. The other senator said that if they did this then when the slaves saw how they greatly outnumbered the citizens, it would inspire them to action and they would seize Rome.

The tale reverses itself in modern day America. the illegal entrants do not want identification as such, they all want to be Roman citizens and enjoy all the privileges delivered to them. They thrill at the fact that we allow our elected members of congress to have such things as caucuses based on race and ethnicity. We are on the verge of the collapse of the USA as we know and love it. Is it because of the illegal immigrants??? NO!! It is because of those who put profit before patriotism, personal wealth before national well being and provide employment to the illegal immigrants.

It is not too late. If we purge the halls of Congress of those who give the slaves identification, we stand a chance. If we remove from office those who put personal gain in front of their sworn duty to uphold our republic from all invaders, then we will have a chance.

The stain of treason through cupidity runs so deep in our country, I fear there will be violence before it is resolved. I can picture non violent, friendly, peaceful Americans losing control as they see their children and childrens children deprived of opportunity and the American dream to fill the pockets of Americans whose only fealty is to wealth. It has destroyed other civilizations. Why will it not destroy ours???

I feel animosity against those who hire outside the boundaries of legal restraints and deprive our citizens of a livelihood. I feel victimized by the rules of profiling. It is not hard to tell when someone is speaking a foreign language. That alone does not make them illegal immigrants. It does, however, raise a question of legal entry to our country that should allow any law enforcement person at any level to check their status. And for all those who whine that their freedom will be violated, I challenge that as a feeble argument to defend illegal entry.

I am willing to be stopped at any time and questioned. We must protect our country. If I need to carry a copy of my birth certificate with me, I am willing to do that to assist law enforcement in executing their duties. And for those who will dust off the tired argument that Franklin said,"He who sacrifices freedom for security deserves neither" is using an argument fro the time when none of the immigration issues existed and trying to tune it to today's America. Franklin was a brilliant man. Did he have an airport in Philadelphia? Or ships to cross the ocean in just a few days??

    No and no!

No American should feel put upon under our current circumstances, to provide proof of identity to protect our country.
