LIVE: United States, Mexico, Canada Leaders

They are on live now speaking and answering questions. Alot of their comments have to do with the border.

Canadian Prime Minister spoke about the concerns of the Chamber of Commerce of the "toughening" of the border between Canada and the United States.

Bush said that prior to NAFTA the border area between Mexico and the United States was really poor. (Well, now we have a really violent border - )

They spoke of the wages in all three nations going up and that protectionism would hurt the United States. He is pushing Colombian Free Trade deal.

Next year's meeting will be in Mexico.

    Psalm 91
    Matthew 19:26
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

I've been listening.....America won't make it as a competative nation if we don't keep our borders open to workers from Mexico.

They are too much crazybird. You can tell that they are trying to even out wages between the three nations so that everyone working is more in line with a worker from one of the other three. This means that citizens in the United States will continue to see their wages fall as more illegal aliens cross the border and take jobs in all areas to drop American worker wages.

The Chamber of Commerce and special interests are the main concerns of the three leaders, not the lives of those who seek the American dream in a developed nation. The more that third world peoples flood the United States, the more that the United States becomes third world.

NAFTA good, anti-NAFTA bad? Not So Fast

American workers are right to be upset with NAFTA as they see CEO’s enriched by shipping out production to cheap-labor countries, Mexico and China primarily. Since NAFTA, Mexico ships more cars to us than we now do to the rest of the world. Did Mexico suddenly develop an auto industry? What’s next, a car from China? Yep, coming in 2008 to America…the Chinese made Geely. Get your order in now; it’s what big business wants you to do. Even without the Geely, we now have the largest trade deficit ($273 billion) with China ever in our history thanks to NAFTA. Under the Bush administration, our trade deficit has doubled and 3 million manufacturing jobs have vanished.

The Clinton administration got the NAFTA ball rolling in 1994 promising the U.S. and her citizens a wonderful life through free trade. We were even told that NAFTA would end illegal immigration. The result? Illegal immigration has accelerated, with two-thirds of illegal immigrants here having arrived since 1995. How did that happen? The U.S. essentially destroyed the Mexican small farmers by crushing them with our subsidized agribusiness imports. NAFTA opened the door for a flood of U.S. investment dollars going into Mexico to finance the cheap labor factories we wanted them to build. Mexico, instead of investing its newfound wealth into infrastructure, housing, schools, and social improvements, transferred it to government officials and its business elite. Mexico was much more interested in encouraging its poor and displaced citizens to migrate to America for work, education, health care and services than investing to keep them at home. Our government was willing to allow it since it met the cheap labor sought by business here.

With a destroyed textile industry and a shrinking manufacturing base in North Carolina, we hear the free traders extol a claimed 30,000 net jobs increase due to NAFTA. What they don’t tell you is that those are not good paying manufacturing jobs with decent benefits that a worker can build a life and raise a family on. Instead, they are the type that puts a worker into direct competition for a job with their children and grandchildren…Wal Mart, Costco, retail and service industry type.

Free trade must end. Instead, it must be replaced with fair and balanced trade where we insist on reciprocity from our trading partners. Over 200 years ago, Thomas Jefferson wrote, “Merchants have no country. The mere spot they stand on does not constitute so strong an attachment as that from which they draw their gains.â€

As outlined in the Constitution, the Chamber of Commerce doesn't run this country, we the people do.

These myopic charlatans are intentionally spewing propaganda to formulate their NAU and enrich themselves and their special interest handlers. Someone in the media needs to ask them about these FACTS:

$108.2 million is spent each year by U.S. border counties in the four state region to pay for law enforcement, criminal justice and emergency healthcare services to illegal immigrants, states a February 2008 report from the United States/Mexico Border Counties Coalition (USMBCC). Current federal reimbursement returns only 11.5 cents on the dollar to counties for handling criminal illegal immigrant services.

From 1999 through 2006, the 24 counties along the U.S.-Mexico border spent a cumulative $1.23 billion on services to process criminal undocumented immigrants through the law enforcement and criminal justice system. In fiscal year 2006 alone, the cost was $192 million. Yet, the federal government has only reimbursed these 24 counties $4.7 million for detaining criminal undocumented immigrants for fiscal year 2006 (and $54.8 million since 1999). These are staggering costs considering the rural nature and poverty level of most of these border counties. The costs to process undocumented immigrants come at the expense of basic, vital services to county residents. If anyone is interested in knowing more about how violent the border region really is (all the stuff the MSM never reports on), browse through the articles written by this investigative reporter: http://www.lagunajournal.com/michael_webster.htm , including this one posted today: http://www.alipac.us/ftopict-112739-.html

Thank you zeezil for the information.

We need more facts and less fantasy. Greed corrupts and look at these three now (throw the Chamber buddies in the mix too).

That's the message I got. Get ready to get poorer. Shame is....they don't even give us a chance to respond to that before they want millions to come in and take the jobs first while we're stupidly running ourselves into the ground for nothing trying to save what we got.

Guess it ticked me off when they were saying to the effect...well Europe has opened their borders to India, Africa etc....they realize they can't stay competitive without the cheap labor and America better wake up.......or it will become a nation of nothing but poverty....kind of thought that was strange since they want us to open the borders to become a nation of poverty. Just didn't make sense to me. I just never got told of the plan before they changed all the rules......shame they didn't tell us we better start working for a cup of rice a day or we won't have anything to pick from 10 yrs from now.

Bothers me that we've been having articles in the paper saying medical Dr's are going to cut by 60% the amount of medicare patients they accept because Medicare doesn't pay enough. Story after story where elderly people can't get treatment for something like a stiff neck.....forget anything serious.....until they're at deaths door.

It is going down so quickly.....right before our very eyes.
