Texas Representative Ted Poe, who has consistently called for real enforcement, states the obvious: "It lacks wisdom to take 20 percent of your work force who know how to deal with criminal detainees—experienced officers—and make grapefruit inspectors out of them."

Now why would the Bush administration want to go and do such a thing?
Poe is right. Bush takes over 1,000 border agents and reassigns them into "customs only" positions, instead of guarding our borders.
I guess Bush feels they will be kept busy when the Mexican trucks start coming into the newly proposed Kansas City-Mexican Customs Facility. I bet Mexicans will replace all of the 1,000 moved into these jobs. It will, afterall, be a Mexican customs, only on American soil. THAT'S WHY BUSH WOULD "WANT TO GO AND DO SUCH A THING".
