Tonight, we’ll have all the latest news from the campaign trail
as the candidates gear up for another week of trading
meaningless barbs while avoiding the issues that matter to most
Americans. Plus:

* Congress denied funding for a program to allow trucks from
Mexico to cross directly into the United States and carry cargo
on our roadways. The Department of Transportation waited until
Congress was out of town and announced it’s expanding the pilot
program for two more years, saying Congress meant to deny funds
for future programs, not this one.

* San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom recently gave more than
$650,000 in grants to non-profit agencies that provide underage
illegal immigrant criminals with services such as attorneys,
housing assistance, and even cultural affirmation activities.
The mayor’s office insists that the program was created to
assist, rather than deport “undocumented, unaccompanied, and
monolingualâ€
