Lou Dobbs Tonight
Monday, May 19, 2008
Tonight, we’ll have the latest from the campaign trail,
including coverage of the growing foreign policy divide between
Sen. Barack Obama and Sen. John McCain and a look at where Sen.
Hillary Clinton stands in the Democratic race—all that and a
complete preview of tomorrow’s Kentucky and Oregon primaries.
Plus:
* Heath and Human Services Secretary Michael Leavitt spent last
week in China, seeking solutions to the flood of dangerous
imports coming from the communist country. Leavitt announced
that the Food and Drug Administration will add 10 more
inspector positions there. But is it enough? The FDA can’t even
keep food safe here at home; yet another major meat recall was
announced this week.
* Oil is at nearly $130 a barrel. The United States knows it is
hurt strategically by its dependence on oil from foreign—and
sometimes hostile—countries. So why hasn’t there been a greater
effort to increase production here at home? Where are the
wildcats? What happened to oil shale technology?
* States and cities continue to take up the mantle of combating
illegal immigration in the face of the federal government’s
failure to do so. Many have given police the authority to check
the immigration status of those in custody and under arrest,
but, a new report calls that practice “poor public policy.â€Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
