Lou Dobbs Tonight
Thursday June 28, 2007

Tonight, a victory for all Americans: The Senate failed to
grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens in this country. By
a vote of 53-to-46 today, the Senate agreed to kill the
so-called comprehensive immigration reform legislation. We'll
have all the latest developments tonight.

And Lou will be joined tonight by Senator Ben Nelson and
Senator Jeff Sessions, two staunch critics of the bill. Also,
Congressman Luis Gutierrez joins Lou to tell us why today’s
vote in the Senate is a major defeat.

Counterfeiters making fake IDs were anxiously awaiting passage
of the Senate amnesty bill, which would have granted millions
of illegal aliens a path to U.S. citizenship. Despite the
bill’s death in the Senate, the counterfeit documents business
remains strong and lucrative within illegal alien communities.
We’ll have a full report tonight.

Turns out the government might be the largest illegal employer
of workers in the country. A little-noticed 2006 Inspector
General audit by the Social Security Administration found the
government employed thousands of aliens who were not authorized
to work in this country. About a third of those workers were
later identified to have paperwork mix-ups, but the rest, had
no legal basis to be employed. Congressman Peter King says it
shows the government has little credibility when it comes to
enforcing the law. Is he right? Find out tonight.

The FDA is planning to ban three species of fish imported to
this country from China. The FDA says the fish are
contaminated. We’ll have a full report on the massive amounts
of fish we import from China and the contaminants in our food
sources.
