Tonight, all the latest on Southern California wildfires. One
million people have been displaced and more than 1,000 homes
destroyed. Officials estimate the damage has already exceeded
$1 billion. We’ll have live reports from Southern California,
the latest on efforts to contain the wildfires, the coming
days’ forecast and more.

Plus, a look at the government response: Were California
officials properly equipped to respond? And how well has the
federal government responded in light of its past failures
managing disasters?

The DREAM Act, which would legalize millions of illegal aliens
if they attend college or join the military, faced a procedural
cloture vote on the Senate floor today. The bill is causing a
wave of controversy on the Hill because it would grant
back-door amnesty to thousands of illegal aliens. We’ll bring
you the latest updates tonight on the movement in Congress to
pass a big chunk of the so-called grand compromise that tanked
last summer.

Consumers have watched as million of Chinese-made toys—sold by
well-known U.S. brands—were recalled this year for high levels
of lead or other design flaws posing a threat to children. The
toy industry says that this holiday season will be the safest
in recent years, but the majority of toys on store shelves are
still made in China. In the face of industry and government
failure, consumers are doing their best to take toy safety into
their own hands, but they’re finding they have little choice
but to buy Chinese. That story, tonight.

New York isn’t the only state to take up the issue of offering
drivers’ licenses to illegal aliens. Currently there are seven
states that do not require proof of citizenship to obtain a
license. North Carolina and Tennessee used to offer licenses to
illegal aliens, but found the process to rife with fraud and
detrimental to our democracy. Tune in for that important
special report, on tonight’s program.

And we'll be joined by CNN Legal Analyst Jeffrey Toobin to
discuss his New York Times bestseller, "The Nine: Inside the
Secret World of the Supreme Court." Please join us for that.
