However, by putting a human face on the issue and addressing the harm that our broken immigration system is causing millions of U.S. citizens, we can begin to put a stop to the raids and deportation-only policies that rip our families apart. Only United States citizens representing your family should attend this important event.


Immigration Casework

In Congress, I am the chairman of the Democratic Caucus Task Force on Immigration. In this role, I have helped to prevent the break-up of immigrants' families and have championed initiatives to eliminate the massive backlog of citizenship applications. Throughout the years I have remained an active leader in the fight to defend the rights of immigrants so they can receive the protections and benefits given to them under the law.

My staff and I have led the fight to help immigrants with a wide range of concerns facing newcomers to our country. In Chicago, my office has held citizenship workshops, helping over 30,000 people take the first steps towards citizenship. If you have questions about any aspects of becoming a citizen or other immigration concerns, please contact my offices at any time.

Pursuant to the Privacy Act of 1974, I must have a signed case authorization form before I can begin work on your case. This form is Casework Authorization Sheet is made available for your convenience. By completing this form at home, you may expedite the process of seeking help with your case. Once the form is completed, you must still bring the form to our office IN PERSON.

Casework Authorization Sheets will not be accepted via fax or email. During your visit, we will also determine if you need to be referred to another office.

I tried to email the list to ICE but you have to call in currently. I'm not sure why but they could pick up LOTS of illegals at these rallies!

Maybe the people that live near one of these could report their's.

So does this mean Gutierrez meddles in other Representatives' jurisdictions? He says his office takes on casework and he is traveling to different cities and asking for people to represent their families?

Just what are the taxpayers of his own District paying him to do---take on cases all over the country? That is supposed to be the local Congressman's job. Is this an ethical violation or what?

When he says the broken immigration system is causing "harm to millions of US citizens" why doesn't he simply let the US citizens speak for themselves? Or is this simply another statement "in code?"

Perhaps there will be some video of the meetings available so we can see what "American citizens" come to his meetings. If the citizens are children, this will likely have to be orchestrated by activist groups, such as the facilities he will have his meetings in. Notice they are churches. I realize that as the Caucus chairman he may develop a network of contacts with other politicians; I'm just trying to raise some questions. As far as I know if someone is seeking help from a government agency you contact YOUR OWN congressman, not someone in another state or district.

Besides he certainly is going whole hog into this. Don't actual constituents of his district have their own regular concerns his office must deal with? It seems like he is choosing to specialize in this issue.

Forgive my stupidity, or is there an Ontario in California, or is that Ontario, Canada? If it is Canada, do we really need to have him running wild all over the world?

He's out hunting for sob stories so he can drag them to hearings in DC.

He's going to have the press at these meetings to so the sob stories will be replayed in the local media with pictures of him hugging on the poor aliens and their families.
