Luis Gutierrez wants amnesty debate in June.

    TRANSLATED FROM:
    http://www.milenio.com/node/184281

In interview granted to Univisión, Gutiérrez emphasized that as opposed to the Senate, where reform has been discussed without success two times, in the House of Representatives the debate on immigration reform has never been debated and immigration reform can start there.

Nevertheless, he expressed that it is required that president Obama contribute his leadership and define his position on the issue, a requisite that the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, has presented to Gutiérrez, "because it should be known where is the president in this issue".

The votes exist, he emphasized, what does not exist is the space and the political will to enumerate those votes onto the screen. "Therefore the key question is if Obama is willing to stop the raids., he can do it, I don't have doubt that he can do it".

The congressman said that in the interview that he expects to have with the president he will ask him to speak "clear and eloquent" on the issue.

"We are going to say to him that we find it anti-american and immoral that with the power of the government, families are being destroyed. That it is a contradiction to say that you want to help the people and on the other hand utilize the instruments of government to deny them legalization that you say to want to give. He cannot have it both ways", he affirmed.

For Gutiérrez, the issue of immigration reform should be undertaken before September, since it would be too late for the issue to be discussed in both the House and the Senate before the legislative recess, for which the month of June is suitable to initiate the debate.

The fact is it's immoral for anyone to come to this country illegally and start a family. Why would you bring a child into a situation knowing that someday you might be deported? And as far as them being denied legalization I don't remember anyone promising them anything at the border before they came here. They weren't forced to come here. It kills me the way some one like Mr. Luis keeps saying it's our fault that they are being arrested and deported. They broke the law and now they have to suffer the consequences. By the way Mr. Luis, no one is buying your sympathy story about how bad it is for the families no more than they would buy the sob story of a family being broken up because the father committed a crime. If Congress had just done away with birthright citizenship years ago as they should have it would take the whole "separated family" out of the discussion. The children would be deported along with the parents without any problem.

    June huh?

Isn't that when all of the analysts, worldwide, are predicting that we really start to hit the skids?

Good, run with June as your target date to push for amnesty and while you're at it, make sure that the messiah.....already toppling off his high horse of popularity......makes it crystal clear to the American people that his loyalty and devotion is strictly to a criminal foreign national population.

Stay in touch and let us know how it works out for ya. Idiot

If there is any debate, I want groups like FAIR, Numbers-usa and Alipac present to represent the majority of Americans who say NO to amnesty or any other excuse to keep illegal aliens here. We want our laws enforced period.

Before debate starts on the House floor, may I assume that testimony will be heard before some committee who will shape the legislation, before it goes to the floor for debate. Perhaps I am wrong, but isn't debate on the floor usually over the pros and cons of a bill? Otherwise, were I so inclined, I could demand a debate over the best type of yeast to use for sweet potato muffins.
Well, at least it gives us two months to organize and bombard the House with opinions.
