L'VOYAGE Expects 30% More Chinese Ultra-Rich Medical Tourists To Fly To Europe And US In 2017

    December 11, 2016 Monika Donimirska

“We are seeing a growing number of inquiries about flying by private jet to France, Germany, Switzerland, the United States and the United Kingdom from our ultra-rich Chinese customers for the purpose of medical tourism,’ said Diana Chou.

Hong Kong (PRWEB) December 12, 2016

L’VOYAGE, a Hong Kong based private jet chartering company, sees a growing interest amongst Chinese ultra-rich individuals in luxury overseas medical and wellness trips. The top destinations for mainstream Chinese medical tourists who tend to be more price sensitive are Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand. The ultra-rich with a personal net worth of at least USD50 million however, are less price sensitive. They prefer to fly by private jet and are increasingly choosing to travel further abroad to Europe and the United States for more advanced treatments, drugs and technologies that are not available in China or the Asia Pacific region.

Market information provider, Global Growth Markets confirms this trend and estimates that outbound Chinese medical tourism is a USD9.7 billion market.

“About 4,300 ultra-rich Chinese sought medical care and health treatments overseas in 2015, spending over USD450 million on IVF, advanced cancer and cardiac treatments, stem-cell treatments, health check-ups and wellness programs. On top of that, these ultra-rich patients spent over USD100 million on travel and sightseeing for these medical trips. We expect this segment to grow faster than the rest of the market, at around 30% annually over the next few years, as more than half of these ultra-rich people will seek overseas treatment in the future,” said Pete Read, CEO of Global Growth Markets.

“We are seeing a growing number of inquiries about flying by private jet to France, Germany, Switzerland, the United States and the United Kingdom from our ultra-rich Chinese customers for the purpose of medical tourism. Not only are there advanced specialist hospitals in these countries, but also cultural landmarks and experiences that are popular with our clientele. Sometimes, relatives will travel overseas together for health checks and a family holiday,” said L’VOYAGE founder and chairman, Diana Chou. “To cater to the growing trend in wellness and medical tourism, we cater our inflight menus to strict dietary instructions upon request and help pre-book return flights on the desired private jets for follow-up doctor appointments. At the moment, many of our Chinese ultra high net worth customers take off from airports in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou but we expect a gradual increase in flights from interior cities, such as Dalian, Chengdu, and Chongqing, where the population of ultra-rich individuals is set to grow at a faster rate than other cities.”

    " health check-ups and wellness programs. "

And they don't have that over there?

I know we are being looked over by such tourists for opportunities they could find here. I guess it is that way with other services we offer. For example in the educational system universities get a substantial income from foreign students but then our accumulated knowledge is also walking off, where they might use it someday as our competitors.

Long wait times make destination healthcare attractive to Canadians

    CNW Group Dec 14, 2016, 5:00 AM

Seeking quality treatment outside of Canada is a viable option with no wait times

HAMILTON, ON , Dec. 14, 2016 /CNW/ - Wait times for medical procedures are at a 20-year high in Canada . Accessing private medical treatment for non-emergency procedures IS a viable option for Canadians. Safe, high-quality, private care is available to Canadians immediately at an affordable price.

"Canadians are becoming frustrated with unreasonably long wait times and lack of access to the care they need," states Nicola Banks , founder of Health City Canada, the Canadian office for Health City Cayman Islands. Health City Cayman Islands sees an average of 20 Canadian inquiries every week and have performed many joint replacement surgeries on Canadian patients, all of whom are back home and recovering well. "Patients should be aware that there are private options available outside of Canada and that suffering is not acceptable," adds Banks.

The practice of Destination Healthcare – also referred to as Medical Tourism – is becoming a fast-growing global industry. In the past year alone, the number of Canadians who left the country to receive medical treatment is in the tens of thousands. The accreditation standards and practices continue to evolve, empowering potential patients to seek affordable, high-quality care.

"The fact that we are only 6 days into corresponding with each other, and have made a determination and scheduled a surgery date, is way beyond our expectations,"
says the daughter of a current patient.

Health City Cayman Islands, a state-of-the-art accredited hospital, set up a dedicated Canadian office in 2016 to better serve the Canadian marketplace. "Our priority is to inform Canadians of their options when they feel there are none," says Banks. "Many inquiring patients are frustrated to the point of feeling desperate." As cited in a recent report by the Fraser Institute, long wait times can have a significant negative impact, beyond merely frustration for patients, such as increased pain, suffering, and mental anguish.

"In a perfect world, we would be able to meet the demands of Canadians needing surgery here in Canada in a timely manner," said Canada -based anaesthesiologist Dr. Cynthia Horner . "Given our current climate, this is becoming more difficult and Canadians are choosing to look for other options."

I just hope it isn't a 'Chinese Holiday', in which they come here to give birth.

We need to plug that anchor baby loophole - immediately.

I don't know that we could actually withdraw citizenship from the anchor babies already born, but we need to stop it now.

Also, if someone comes here with the express purpose of producing a child in order to have it be a citizen, that's a no brainer. It's fraud, pure and simple.
