First attack on new Juárez police commander

CIUDAD JUAREZ, CHIHUAHUA - Lt. Col. Julian Leyzaola was attacked this
morning (Thursday) at about 8 am. Gunmen in a gray Explorer fired at the commander, resulting in one gunman dead and the arrest of 2 others. Due to security concerns, no further information was disclosed.

Plant to manufacture aircraft parts

QUERETARO, ORO - The company Eurocopter, the leading global producer of helicopters for the civilian market, officially announced the construction of a plant to manufacture aircraft parts and components in the state of Querétaro. The project involves an initial investment of $100 million and will create 85 highly skilled jobs. The vice president of global supply chain of the Franco-German-Spanish company, Bert Stegkemper, said the plant, the second for Eurocopter in Latin America will reach a total investment of 550 million dollars and will be ready by the end of next year . The new plant will produce tail cones, vertical stabilizers and door structures, components for
different assembly lines of EADS. Eurocopter to which it belongs is used worldwide in aerospace, defense and related services.

22 Cuban migrants arrived in Tela, Honduras

TELA, HONDURAS - 22 Cuban migrants arrived today Tela Bay. The rafters are 19 men and three women, who were assisted by residents of the Miami (Honduras) community so they had no problem getting to the beach. "We left Cuba on Sunday 6 March, we ran out of diesel, and four days of sailing and we sailed three days without food," said one of the rafters. Authorities said that they (Cubans) are in stable health conditions and are seeking the conditions for them to be safe.

Discover 910 sites in 15 months for stealing oil and gas

MEXICO, DF - Eighteen members of a criminal gang dedicated to fuel theft from Petroleos Mexicanos, or PEMEX, were arrested March 15 by members of the Federal Police, said Juan José Suárez Coppel, director general of Pemex, and Luis Cárdenas Palomino, intelligence coordinator of the corporation under the Ministry of Public Security during a news conference. Besides those arrested, 14 pipes were secured, seven of them filled to capacity with 153 thousand liters of LP gas, and that according to the authorities was illegally taken from two clandestine footage connecting to a Pemex pipeline. During the media conference, Suarez Coppel said that during 2010 there were 710 illegal connections detected of which 10 were LPG, while so far this year have been located 200, with 13 for the liquefied petroleum gas. For his part, Cárdenas Palomino said that this is the fourth theft group dedicated to the theft of gas being detained so far this year. When asked about the economic impact, they indicated that according to
unofficial information, it could amount to three billion pesos (about US $248 million) a year.
