    Migrants without access to healthcare

Guanajuato – Work related accidents, HIV-AIDS and diabetes are the main problems faced by Mexicans who leave the health care system of this country and go to the United States.

Of the 30.7 million Mexicans who reside in the United States, one out of every three needs medical care, said the Sub-secretary for North America, Julian Ventura, at the tenth Bi-national Conference on Health in the capital city of Guanajuato.

Jose Angel Cordoba Villalobos, Secretary of the Federal Health Agency, said that migrants have double the risk of acquiring illnesses when arriving in the United States, such as HIV-AIDS, obesity, hypertension, mental problems and addiction to tobacco, alcohol and drugs. He said that those addictions increase in a dramatic way among migrants and that there are major psychological disturbances due to the social conditions they live under.

For example, he says, while Mexico has a HIV-AIDS rate of 0.36%, the United States has a 0.80% rate of HIV-AIDS in the migrant population.

Mexico has a 7% diabetes rate while the U.S. has a 20% rate. In the migrant population (in the USA) the diabetes rate is 14%.

The Federal Secretary of Health and Director of the Health Initiative of the Americas, Xochitl Castaneda from the University of California who organized the forum, said “It is a band-aid on a hemorrhage because the health problems of migrants will not be resolved in a week or a month but fellow countrymen in a strange country need medical attention.â€

Here's my advice (besides stay home): keep it zipped and you won't get HIV or AIDS, quit overeating - obesity solved, stop buying and using tobacco, alcohol and drugs, you're on your own with your mental problems. Every issue mentioned is a matter of lifestyle choices. They were not forced on the poor, poor illegals.

all that free they get here is just too much for them, they are used to living in squalor with a limited diet. when they get up in here and get on the dole, its just one big fiesta till they get pinched or drop dead. all that gluttony is paid for off the backs of us and our children, them getting sick and injured is small consolation. tick-tok kiddies, almost time for the traitor liberals to be voted out. then the (mod edit) can get back home and find health.

I worry a hell of a lot more about what wretched diseases they are bringing in! Why do you think so many diseases we eradicated in the 50's and 60's are re-emerging? Where do you think the bed bug infestation is coming from?

Another reason not to cross the border in america! I love the fact that these 3rd world countries love to try to blast us about how bad and corupt we are supposed to be. I think instead of pointing fingers at the great nation of the united states of america they need to look at why their people are leaving ( jobs, free ride ) and try to emulate the with in their own country. That is why we have to ship all the illegals back home so now that they've been shown how america works they now are educated (thanks to our tax payers). They can go home and show others how to be just like us and work with in their own countries for health care and food stamps higher living wages all that great american stuff
