BOSTON — A former Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles employee and a Quincy man have been charged with providing illegal immigrants with fraudulent driver’s licenses.

Federal prosecutors say 39-year-old Vanderlei Rosa Da Silva of Quincy would send the immigrants with Puerto Rican identification documents belonging to other people to a Registry window where customer service representative Janice Washington of Brockton worked.

The U.S. attorney’s office alleges that the 49-year-old Washington was paid a bribe by Da Silva to issue licenses. Da Silva allegedly received up to $1,000 from each immigrant between July and October of last year.

Both are charged with conspiracy and mail fraud and face a maximum of 20 years in federal prison if convicted.
