Illegal immigrants in the Bay State could be issued driver’s licenses under a controversial amendment tucked inside the house’s comprehensive transportation reform bill yesterday.

Minority Leader Rep. Brad Jones (R-North Reading) blasted the measure - which could come up for a vote today - saying undocumented aliens could use their driver’s licenses to try to vote or to board planes illegally.

“I don’t think this is the time or place for this,â€

Rep. Tom Sannicandro (D-Ashland), who filed the amendment, said the measure would ensure safety on streets because immigrants would learn the local rules of the road. LOL! They haven't obeyed the laws already, what makes you think they would abide by any rules?

Plus, he said, the licenses would help officials determine how many illegal immigrants reside in the state.

HUH?!?!?!? That makes no sense! We already know that when they are caught driving without a valid license or any govt issued ID, they are here illegally.

Those illegal aliens on the road who are driving now are not going to let a little thing like failing the test and not having a license keep them off the road even if they are eligible to apply. There is no increase in safety the only change is going to be that if one hits you they are more likely to be insured.



There is an illegal aliens lobby organization named MIRA in Massachusetts which in a vacuum has coopted the politicians and NGO leaders mind share regarding immigrants. The Governor in order to get volunterrs for his campaign went totally in the bag for them. There was a series of hearings on state government immigrant dialogue which was organized and moderated by the illegal aliens lobby. This was one of the things that they wanted and I hope for the sake of citizens and legal immigrants that they do not obtain it.
