Bloomfield's police chief wants to stop the MVD from printing state issued driver’s licenses and ID cards for foreign nationals.
Chief Mike Kovacs says it takes three times as long for the MVD to process a foreign national ID card because of all the paperwork.
The city says the long wait time is the number one complaint from residents.
Since Bloomfield’s MVD is owned by the city, councilors can vote on Kovac's proposal.
Currently Artesia is the only city in the state that has passed a similar resolution.

When I travel overseas I am encouraged to get an International license from my AAA office. It helps me if I am ever stopped by law enforcement officers and they don't have to bring me in while they spend hours checking my info.
It's inexpensive and solves alot of headaches, so why aren't foreign nationals legally in the US getting their international license from their home countries, before coming here?
If a foreign national has permanent legal status/green card, why do they need a foreign license? Shouldn't they have a US license? Tourists don't need to be issued US licenses.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
