The Capital Times — 5/01/2008 7:05 am

Hundreds of marchers will rally today in Madison to give support to immigrant and workers' rights.

The march/rally is one of dozens taking place across the world on May Day, also known as International Workers Day.

The Madison marchers will gather at 11:30 a.m. in Brittingham Park on West Washington Avenue, marching to the City-County Building downtown for the rally expected to start about noon.

UW-Madison students were planning a separate rally for 10:30 a.m. today on Library Mall on campus, followed by a march to Brittingham Park to join the May Day march.

In 2007, about 400 people took part in the march and rally in Madison.

Thousands are expected to march in Milwaukee from the near south side to Veterans Park, and large marches are planned in about 200 cities across the country.
