Man accused of Charlotte kidnappings

GLENN COUNTS

6NEWS

Police are on the scene at an apartment complex in east Charlotte with a suspect in custody who they said kidnapped several people and fired a gun.

Police are investigating this case as a kidnapping. They said it started when the suspect went to the Woodlawn Apartment Complex off of Farm Pond Lane.

Officers said the man went to the apartments to try and get either his significant other or someone he was infatuated with to talk to him. When she refused police said he went to a Latino Grocery off Eastway Drive.

Officers said the man kidnapped a woman there who was possibly the woman’s mother or coworker. He brought her back to the apartment complex but she would not come out.

The suspect then allegedly went back to the store and instead of letting the woman go, he kidnapped two of her coworkers and brought them back to the apartment complex.

Sometime during the course of events police said the suspect ended up shooting a car that was parked at the apartments. They said he was armed with a black revolver. It is unclear if the car belonged to the woman he was trying to talk to or if it was a random vehicle the man shot up in a fit of rage.

Officers said the suspect in this incident, whose name has not been released, is an illegal alien. Officers with Immigrations and Customs Enforcement are on the scene. He is going to be taken to jail.

The victims are being taken to the police department so police can interview them further.
