SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. -- Deputies arrested a man for allegedly stalking a woman in her car for more than an hour. The woman said she first noticed she was being followed on I-95 in Palm Coast and said he kept following her on I-4.

It wasn't until the woman was on State Road 46 in Sanford that deputies finally stopped him. The guy apparently told deputies he was trying to go to Olive Garden, but he couldn't explain why he drove so far and why he was following one particular woman so closely.

Authorities say it was 28-year-old Robert Waclawski who started tailing a woman in Palm Coast with his bright lights shining. At one point, investigators said she slowed down to nearly ten miles an hour, changed lanes and sped up to 80, but couldn't lose the car behind her. She eventually exited on SR-46 in Sanford and called 911.

"It's really a frightening situation for this woman who was obviously being followed," said Lt. Dennis Lemma, Seminole County Sheriff's Office.

Even after getting off the interstate, the victim couldn't shake the car following her. With police on the phone, she made a u-turn on SR-46, but the suspect's car stayed right with her. That's when a deputy pulled over Waclawski and started asking questions.

The Polish citizen had no visa and expired New Jersey tags. He would only say he was trying to get to the Olive Garden restaurant in Sanford, but he couldn't explain why he followed the woman nearly 60 miles for more than an hour.

"Just a very, very frightening, bizarre situation. Still to this day, we don't know what his true motive was," Lemma explained.

Waclawski was arrested on felony stalking and driving without a license. A judge set his bond at $10,000 Monday, but he's also being held on possible immigration violations.
