A traffic stop led to an attempted murder charge when the driver hit a Huntsville police officer.

Police pulled over 23-year-old Rudy Zandoval last night.

When the officer asked him to roll down his window, Zandoval drove off, hitting the officer in the leg.

He was captured down the road, but fought with officers while resisting arrest.

Zandoval resisted because he was an illegal alien from Mexico and had previous warrants for his arrest for driving without a license, no proof of car insurance, and 2 counts of failure to appear.

Zandoval is now in the Madison County Metro Jail facing attempted murder and resisting arrest charges.
