U.S. Border Patrol officials say they will return a man wanted for an attempted homicide to Mexican authorities on Friday.

Authorities say Marco Antonio Medina-Balderrama is accused of robbing a convenience store in Mexico at gunpoint early last month with an accomplice. While arguing about who was going to keep the stolen money, Medina allegedly shot his co-defendant twice in the neck and that man remains in a coma at a Mexican hospital.

Mexican authorities contacted the Yuma Sector Border Patrol on Jan. 4 after Medina illegally crossed into Arizona and he was arrested near the San Luis port of entry.

Authorities say Medina faces aggravated robbery and attempted homicide charges in Mexico.
