    Raul Estrada-Chavez
Buy this photoU.S. District Judge Danny C. Reeves handed down the sentence to Raul Estrada-Chavez, 32, for illegal re-entry after deportation.

On March 2, Estrada-Chavez was arrested by Kentucky State Police Trooper Trevor Harris for various traffic violations, including no operator’s license.

The arrest report states that Harris stopped Estrada-Chavez on Interstate 64 because the Nissan he was driving had excessively tinted windows.

The trooper discovered Estrada-Chavez had no driver’s license and charged him with that offense, plus failure to maintain insurance, first offense, excessive window tinting and failure to wear a seat belt.

Harris said in the arrest report that Estrada-Chavez told him that he had been living in Shelbyville for two months and that he had lived in Arizona for 10 years before that and had never had a driver’s license or insurance.

Once jailed, officials at the Shelby County Detention Center contacted Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), who identified Estrada-Chavez as an illegal alien.

Estrada-Chavez had a prior drug conviction in Arizona in 2003 and was deported in February 2004 and had never obtained permission to re-enter the United States, according to officials from the U.S. Attorney’s office.

It is no wonder this costs so much money for the taxpayers......incompetance,no accountability, failure to protect the borders, failure to enforce our existing laws, government tying the hands of law enforcement officers,a whole new Dept of Homeland Security that does not carry out its responsibilities, but still costs mega bucks to run it,and never once shutting off the magnets that attract these invaders.

Six times, huh? If I remember correctly, when an illegal alien breaks into the U.S. a second time, it's a felony. Shouldn't he have been imprisoned then?

    Here's the loophole:

    Voluntary Departure

The departure of an alien from the United States without an order of removal. The departure may or may not have been preceded by a hearing before an immigration judge. An alien allowed to voluntarily depart concedes removability but does not have a bar to seeking admission at a port-of-entry at any time. Failure to depart within the time granted results in a fine and a ten-year bar to several forms of relief from deportation.

I'm going to guess he had five of these before they actually deported him through the courts.

I believe many of the so-called non-criminal IAs being deported by Secure Communities have several of these. BUT in the view of the IA huggers they didn't actually commit a crime.
