WACO -A 22-year-old man involved in a Friday night car accident is arrested after he failed to stop and render aid. Luis Arnaldo Gallegos is accused of driving through a red light and colliding with another car.

This incident occurred Friday at 10:30 p.m. on East Waco Dr. and Interstate 35. Gallegos was driving a Ford Escape, and continued to drive through the intersection despite a red light and hit another car.

The driver of the other vehicle was injured in the accident, and was later transported by ambulance to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center with a neck injury.

Police say Gallegos fled the scene on foot towards a nearby H-E-B. As police searched the surrounding area, they eventually found him inside the H-E-B and took him into custody.

In addition to a citation for running a red light and not having a driver's license, Gallegos is also facing charges of failure to stop and render aid. He is also in an immigration detainer and remains in the McLennan County Jail.
