Man Gets 99-Years for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child

An illegal Mexican immigrant is facing 99 years in prison for the aggravated sexual assault of a child last October. Jose Maria Lopez forced himself into a home on the 2000 block of Gilbert St. in Beaumont where he proceeded to sexually assault a 13 year old girl.

Lopez beat the young girl with a can of soup hard enough to open the can on her head. The assault was interrupted by the girls mother and brother but not before she had been partially penetrated. The young girl had over 40 bruises, contusions and lacerations on the outside of her body. The 99 year sentence was a result of the savagery of the assault.
The trial took place in Judge John Stevens' court.
