Man Guilty of Escondido Crime Spree Gets 74 Years

He was 18-years-old the night he committed rape and robbery and seven other felonies, in May of 2011.

This morning, Hugo Elmer Garcia, now 20, was sentenced to 74 years and 8 months to life in prison, for his own personal crime wave in Escondido.

Garcia’s trial was in May of this year, and the jury deliberated for about an hour before declaring the defendant guilty of burglary and kidnap and stolen vehicle and personal use of a gun, among other felonies.

Hugo Elmer Garcia was stopped about 10 p.m. in a stolen Ford Explorer by ICE agent Derek Hester the same night of the crimes. Agent Hester said he removed a loaded, six-shot .22 caliber revolver from the front pocket of Garcia’s pants.

A Juris criminal history report in his file states that Garcia was born in El Salvador. His case is flagged with an immigration HOLD.

The same judge who heard the jury trial, Honorable Daniel Goldstein, declared sentence this morning, August 27.

If he hadn't been caught, he would have been deferred by Obama to vote. JMO
