Man Sentenced To 4 Years After Illegal Reentry

ATLANTA (AP) — A Mexican previously deported after being convicted of selling heroin and cocaine has been sentenced to three years and 20 months in federal prison for illegal re-entry.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 49-year-old Alejandro Maldonado of Guerrero, Mexico, was sentenced Wednesday by U.S. District Judge J. Owen Forrester. Maldonado pleaded guilty in June.

According to U.S. Attorney David Nahmias and information presented in court, Maldonado was arrested in February for traffic offense in Cobb County. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents determined via fingerprints that he was illegally in the United States and not only was previously deported, but was convicted of illegal sale of heroin and cocaine prior to his deportation.
